Labels

The map label feature of comstudy is pretty neat, but because the interface is split up, it may be a little hard to find how to make them (except for town names)

Town names can be added as labels (default transparent and no border) from the MAP->Overlays by first turning on the display of town names in ->Text.
Once you have done that, go to Map->Overlays->Labels and select the town(s) you want and transfer it/them to the label list. Go back to MAP->Overlays->Text->City Names and uncheck display on map.
The label will be the only town name remaining.

For other labels, from the Cursor tools toolbox (Dividers) select the "A" from the toolbar.
A menu is started by click-drag to make the label box on the map. When you release the click, you get a dialog box to fill in the text, which auto sizes the box. The callout can be changed from the + to an arrowhead, and all the normal borders, transparency, etc can be adjusted. The head of the callout is just dragged to where you want it.

If you want a label to go away, however, you have to go to MAP->Overlay->labels to delete them.

That can be a little confusing until you realize where to get rid of the label you did not mean to make.

Don't forget to change your cursor tool back to one of the screen sizing ones when you are done making labels.
